Preface

The book entitled “Impact of Family Environment on Early Childhood Education” (ECE) is a research-based book that deals with the rationale of ECE from the point of view of human rights, moral, socio-equity, economic, scientific, changing social and demographic circumstances, increasing labour force participation, and changing family patterns. The origin and historical development of ECE from a world perspective have been clearly stated, which will help the readers to understand the philosophical, psychological and sociological bases of ECE. Indian scenario in this respect has been spelt out with facts and figures. Attempts have also been made to review studies from a global perspective. An attitude scale on Thurstone’s line has been developed on nine points. The observation and assessment schedule which was used for preschool children contains statements on socio-cultural, physical, motorability, language, cognitive, creative expression and aesthetic appreciation followed by hints for evaluation.
