Learning a Joyful Experience Volume II is out in such a short time is the result of the enthusiastic reception Volume I received from you, Teachers and Parents. In this Volume, you will find Number-related Activities and Physical Education Activities for preschool (two years) treated in a very appealing and fascinating way. Children are the focus everywhere. Other than the activities mentioned in the daily lessons, a number of exciting and stimulating group activities will be found in Appendix No. 2. This is to have a storehouse of ideas for your teachers. The poems and the Flannel Graph samples will help you to start. This approach has been followed in different schools for the last 12 years and more in an extensive way and found fruitful. So I share this with you so that our children everywhere may enjoy numbers fully and without any inhibition.

Mathematics Pre School

Mathematics is not a separate subject in preschool but a manipulative, enjoyable pool of activities by which children make the number concepts their own. The children are encouraged to listen, understand, speak and act as per the directions.

Free and purposeful handling of scientifically prepared and systematically presented materials in creative ways helps the development of the brain and triggers the imagination. Children are ever on the go to manipulate the materials in their own way. The teacher is there to assist them. Other than learning a lot of mathematics-related vocabulary, they become proficient in the concepts of size, quality and quantity. Colours are dancing in front of their eyes through the medium of toys, teaching aids and other materials. With all these and more the children acquire the ability to think logically, adjust their social, personal and emotional behaviour easily and express their needs and wants in an acceptable way. They are challenged to think in creative ways.
